Song Dong

                  “ The collected ingredients of a Beijing life” is an article about an artist name Song Dong written by Holland Cotter. This shows an insight to how impactful events may result in the spark of creativity or inspiration. Song Dong did not grow up in the humblest or stable setting as many of us are used to. Instead she grew up in an arear where change was inevitable and clutter was overwhelming. How could one survive in a place where there is no where or no time to settle. Sadly, this was the life she was destined to live, however it may not be as sad as it seems depending on the perception of the viewer. Where you are to see a mess which need to be abolished Song saw beauty in every piece of clutter. She saw it as a memoir to her deceased parents and that itself was a fantastic masterpiece in itself. She captured the essence of many years of one person’s life into one motionless artwork. She was able to tell a story whilst nothing moved, spoke or made a reference. She captured all of the sense and triggered imagination with only sight alone. It was this piece that left her mark on the world, her life, her home, her clutter, her mess, it all was an essence of beautiful chaos which she was able to bring fourth.

My So-Called Opinions review

                   Many people believe that their opinions are the only necessity into create their belief or value system, however they fail to realize that their opinions can sometimes be altered or suppressed by external factors that they will never point out themselves. The article “My So-Called Opinions” by Zachary Fine shows questionable things that one might want to ask themselves before stating their so-called opinions. He points out a general idea of “I like what I like” and then twist it to get the reader to look deeper into the meaning of that phrase. What is it about that that make you like it, is it an original interest or is it falsified by popular belief, would you express this interest to a public domain, and do you really like it or are you pretending to appease the crowd. These questions are a series of references the author suggest to the reader about what they may or may not like depending on how the decide to answer these questions he had brought fourth. So are they really your opinions or not. Will you keep the same ideas or not? Is Zachary Fine correct in his allegations or not. For all we know his article “My so-called opinions” may not even be his. But all we know as a reader is that we believed our opinions wholeheartedly until Zachary question those ideas. In conclusion your so-called opinions might not even be a thought of your own.

What is your previous computer experience?

- I have taken one year of graphic design in high school.

What do you hope to get out of this class?

- I plan to open my mind and feed off of others creativity.

What is the relationship between computers and visual studies?

- Computers have many ways to create artwork that would be seemingly impossible to do by hand, this technology has brought an evolution to art itself.

What is your experience with Photoshop and Illustrator?

- I haven't had much experience besides a high school course in which I have forgotten a lot f the material.

Do you have a computer at home? If so dose it have Photoshop and Illustrator?

- I have a Macbook Pro and t doesn't have adobe programing at the moment.

- Mac.

Who is your favorite artist?

- Me. I don't really keep up with artists names rather than pictures I see, all of my favorite pictures are from unknown sources.

Who is your favorite musician? 

- Drake.

Tell me something interesting about yourself?

- I am very competitive when it comes to art so I like to surround myself with people who are way above my level so i can fight my way to the top and claim the title as the best. At my school i was awarded the artist but i never had motivation because there was no one to compete with.
